Tweeting teen can handle public life
After reading this article one passage stood out and will not leave me. The passage is about how teens code their messages and hide their true message. I did not have a Twitter account before this class and still don’t know a lot about how it works, but do people really do this? I have never heard about this before reading the article. So I guess my question is do people (teens) really do this?
I didn’t have a twitter before this class either, but status updates on Facebook are similar. I think that people “code their messages” almost unknowingly. By posting an inside joke to a friend, only the two (or possibly more) people involved know what it truly means. All anyone else can do is assume. Of course, the person posting obviously knows only a few people will understand an inside joke, but the majority of the time I don’t think people go to post thinking “how can I rephrase this so hardly anyone knows what I’m talking about”. That would practically defeat the purpose of posting altogether in my opinion.
