Facebook Followup

Over Thanksgiving break I was talking with my friend about the Timeline feature on Facebook that I wrote about not too long ago, so I thought I’d post a follow up blog. She mentioned that she knew a way to obtain the new layout, so naturally I asked if she could get it for me. She gladly said yes and went to work. She explained that you needed to be an editor of Facebook or something along the lines of that, clicked a bunch of random buttons, and boom, I had the new Facebook.

I thought that it would affect the entirety of the site, but it only changes the actual profile page, not the newsfeed or anything else. In regards to my previous post, Nick Bilton mentioned that the new Facebook possesses a narcissistic feel, but since I rarely view my own profile page, I haven’t noticed a huge change. I also don’t get to see the timeline feature on other people’s profiles unless they have the new layout as well, so there are few times that I’m actually interacting with it. As more people get the new layout my opinion may change, but as for now I’m fairly neutral on if it is better or worse.
